( shows a clip of Lil talking to Burton and Jon - You two promised me at least 3rd. ... Burton saying - Everything is cool. Then Lil to camera - We made a pack! ...so I started thinking. If they can screw her over, they can screw me over. )
( show a clip of Burton and Jon last night on the reward challenge- Burton saying that - Jon and I have been running the show pretty much the last 20 days and I don't think those three girls could come up with a decent strategy if they had to. )
( show a clip of Jeff telling Burton - The tribe has spoken.
Time for you to go and then the jury celebrating , as Burton walks away )
Harry - The jury was cheering Burton, Welcome back...good to see you.
Burton -Good to see you.
Harry - Wow. You talk about words that will live forever and ever - Those women couldn't put a strategy together.
( Burton chuckles )
Harry - Oh, golly. Lots of things to talk about. First - You did a great job the last time you were here the last time not giving away the secret that you were going back to the game. Let's go right to last night. You win this reward challenge.
Burton - Right.
Harry - And the first person you pick is Jon. Did you have any thought whatsoever? You can't leave those women alone!
Burton - At the time, there was no reason to think Lil was going to do anything but stick with our alliance. The three of us had been working the game - I mean Jon and I driving the bus - Lil riding the bus -
Harry - uh huh
Burton - We were sticking to our game and Jon and I this far in the game, we were pretty much guaranteed top three. Don't know why Lil would have done anything different.
(shows a clip of Jon and Burton enjoying their food at the RC last night)
Harry - Didn't you vacillate a little bit with her a few times? A few times in the last couple of weeks you gave her reason to doubt you a little bit ..
Burton - well if... If you saw all of the conversation she and I had, I promised her I would never lie to her, which I never did in the entire game
Harry - uh hun
Burton - and I would get her as far as I could.
I never said top two.
Harry - hmmm..
Burton - It was clear in our conversations that you're not going to get someone farther that makes sense for yourself.
Harry - Right.
Burton - So I didn't think Lil would backstab me
Harry -yeah
Burton - but ... It turns out she did. I will say right before Jon got on the boat to go to the reward, Darrah comes up and says - Lil just approached us with an all-girl strategy.
Harry - right
Burton - and at that point, it's like Oh Gosh - so we had 24 hours to talk about, what about this, what about that.
Harry - right - Your goose was cooked, pal. It was.
Burton - It was. at that point
(laughter)
Harry - Did you know when you came back from the reward, did you think I could be in serious trouble here?
Burton - Well, we were going to go to Darrah and Sandra and try to sway them to get Lil off
Harry - right
Burton - but the girls were lying. It was so obvious.
Harry - because they did this whole - Sandra is wrapped up in a blanket?
Burton - yeah they were like "we didn't talk about anything" - I said -- we were gone for 24 hours and you didn't talk about anything? No. It was clearly that they were lying.
They said, okay, we'll vote for Lil but at the end of the day, I was pretty sure I was going home
Harry - laughs
Burton - . But from their standpoint, they should have gotten rid of me a long time ago.
Harry - yeah ..yeah - but you had a heck of a run a heck of a run...
Harry - We have Phyllis on the phone from Philadelphia. Do you have a question for Burton?
Phyllis - Yes, I do. Good morning.
Burton - Hi, how are you?
Phyllis- Burton - at the end of the show, you said to Lil, "I hope you can live with yourself because we had an alliance." My question is can you live with yourself? Because you did the same thing to her.
Harry ... hmmm...
Burton - No.. I .... So Lil broke our alliance and I knew that before we went on the challenge so when I got back, our alliance was finished so I was doing what I could to stay in the game and she back-stabbed me -went against us after all that Jon and I had helped her get that far in the game.
Harry - some scouts battling here ...Weren't you an eagle scout?
Burton - I am an eagle scout and stuck to my order the entire game, did not lie to Lil.
(Harry now cracking up laughing)
Harry - they are going to call you in front of the BSA next time - They're going to have a big pow wow about this.
(laughter)
Harry - Gretchen from Florida- do you have a question for Burton?
Gretchen - Hi .. yes - Good Morning Harry- Happy Holidays
Harry - Thanks
Burton - Hi
Gretchen - Burton....uhh... How do you think you're going to manage to get dates after the whole country saw you talk so poorly about women?
(Harry - laughing )
Burton - I believe if you watch the tape, it was Jon talking poorly. I just said they couldn't come up with a strategy. I did not talk poorly about women.
( Harry still laughing ) ** note - Burton doesn't seem amused
Harry - You will have a reputation to have to deal with.
Burton - I'm not worried about getting dates. That shouldn't be a problem.
Harry laughs and says - ok - We've got Cheryl on the phone. Cheryl, where are you from?
Cheryl - I'm from Easton, Pennsylvania.
Harry - Hi Cheryl - What is your question for Burton?
Cheryl - Hi Burton - I was wondering at any time during the reward challenge or prior to that if Jonny Rotten had confided to you that his Grandmother had really had not died and if you didn't - when did you actually find out and how did that change how you felt about him?
Harry - hmm...Let me repeat the question - because it was a little fuzzy there. She wanted to know if Jonny Rotten had ever confided in you that this whole business with his grandmother was just a lie
Burton - No. You know once that was over - it was over. Like - No one thought about it. I did... yeah... I kinda learned with the rest of the people on TV. To me to didn't matter.
Harry - right - Who do you like as this game goes on now ? Because in a lot of way - wouldn't the best strategy be to get rid of Lil? Shouldn't these women turn and reform an alliance with Jonny Rotten?
Burton - There is a million different ways it can go and it will be interesting to see how it plays out, but you can run all of the scenarios and a lot of different things make sense, so a lot has to do with who gets immunity and what do you do at that point.
Harry - and finally - Some of the players who have come on sense have felt that it was really unfair to have the outcasts come back. How do you respond to that?
Burton -uhhh... It wasn't a decision I made. I took advantage of the opportunity and did the best I could.
Harry - yea..
Burton - so I was playing the game. And you know I think no one had a problem when we first got back in the game. My tribe loved me they said hey - we're a better tribe. They only had a problem after they got booted out.
Harry - Right - well... Congratulations. It's been a great run for you ... ( shakes his hand)
Burton - Thank you.

Burton Roberts, the 31 year old Marketing Executive from San Francisco, was blindsided once again in another "surprise" Tribal Council last night on Survivor: Pearl Islands. Burton won yet another Reward Challenge, took his buddy Jon along for the ride in his new GMC Envoy XUV leaving Darrah, Sandra and Lillian alone on the island. The women in return used their time wisely to plot Burton's demise. Burton talked with Harry Smith this morning on the CBS Early Show about his final words to Lillian and how he was aware that Lillian was ready to backstab him.
