Last night on Survivor Pearl Islands, Ryan Opray became the first member of the jury when he was voted off by the members of his Balboa tribe with and 8-1 vote. Ryan turned to his former tribe mates before he left Tribal Council and said "I'll be back guys". This morning Ryan appeared on the CBS Early Show with Harry Smith. He talked about his feeling for Lillian and how he tried to work some magic before getting voted off the island. Harry Smith - Last night on Survivor - Pearl Islands, the castaways began a mad scramble, making and breaking alliances, especially Ryan Opray who knew his days on the island were numbered.

Harry - Ryan sitting here looking at his flame getting snuffed out and he says "bummer."
(Harry and Ryan laugh)
Harry - You knew were doomed, though?
Ryan O - Yeah I knew the writing was on the wall - yeah that was it...
Harry - When Andrew you know got tossed last week...
Ryan - Oh...
Harry.. I mean.. it's really ... are they just going to go through one by one by one, that's what it looks like - the Morgan's are finished.
Ryan - Yeah that's the way it looks. I mean ...Andrew .. when Andrew left... I watched myself on TV... I was genuinely upset. Andrew was a buddy of mine and it just went south.
Harry - Yeah... now there's this whole thing with the Outcast.. right..... These people who were kicked off of the show, voted off at Tribal Council - then two come back on, Lil who is from your tribe comes back and she is ... she is the weapon. She's the fulcrum around what all of this ends up revolving. And she ...here's this sweet boy scout leader, she's gunning for you guys.... You're deadmeat out there.
Ryan - Yeah.. I think Lil's whole deal was... she got voted out by us before, so she had no reason to go with us.
<shows a clip of Lil and Ryan at camp...>
Ryan - I don't blame her... I really don't blame her. I'm not happy with her but I don't blame her. She did a strategic move and it was great by Survivor standards.
Harry - yeah.. now didn't you ... early last night, try to make a deal with Burton? Try to....
Ryan - I tried to work so many deals those last couple of days.
(laughs) I was like "alright we can do this - I think you are the next person to go....and I was working.. I was trying to work my magic. And hey you know what...Rupert really liked me, maybe I should have went up to him and said hey you might be one of the...
Harry - yeah because when Rupert was over with you guys earlier in the show, it looked like you guys had bonded a little bit.
Ryan - yeah .... We got along really well. You know what... I really like Rupert,
Harry - yeah...
Ryan... he's a really genuinely nice guy and he was just kinda a little upset, he seemed like .. when he was at his tribe - they disrespected him a little bit. But, I wasn't about to do that, I'm not that type of person.
Harry - yeah...
Ryan - So...
Harry - He seems to be, just everybody every week.....
Ryan - Everybody loves him.
Harry - that's what everybody talks about his Rupert. And last night there were sorta rumblings of maybe a coup, maybe a sorta revolt against Rupert but it certainly never materialized.
Ryan - Yeah .. I actually - watching the show, I had no idea. you know ... last night... I was like WHOA ....that happened? Because you know... I got snuffed out right away. They were getting rid of me right away.
Harry - uh huh...
Ryan - that's the way I thought it was going to go

Harry - Can we take some phone calls? Can we do a couple of phone calls.. ok... Deena is one the line from North Carolina - and she's got a question for you.
Burton - Hi Deena..
Deena - Hi, how are you?
Burton- Good.
Deena - I wanted to know more of the strategy behind the Immunity Challenge. It seemed like an opportunity for you guys to get rid of the other team members...or the other tribe... but you didn't do that.
Harry - they came right after you...
Burton.. yeah.. umm.. which immunity challenge was this? The last.. last night?
Deena - yeah... last night.... It seemed like you guys were killing each other off.
( Harry laughing)
Burton - yeah well... I had my coconuts built up in the first couple of seconds.. I think and Jeff kinda laughed about it. So.. I don't know.. I tried my hardest, I tried to manipulate and tried to get the thing to go my way, it just didn't turn out that way....
Harry - Because they went after you first.
Ryan - oh absolutely...
Harry - you were dead
Ryan - They hammered me. That.. that... those 3 days after Andrew left was horrible.
(Harry and Ryan laugh)
Harry - Nisi is on the like from New York... Nisi you have a question for Ryan?
Nisi - Yes I do.. Good Morning Ryan...
Ryan - Good Morning.
Nisi- I'm so bummed - You were my all time favorite Survivor.
Harry - Ohhhh...
Burton - Oh Thank You.
Nisi - Anyway.. my question is - When you were voted off and became the first juror where did you go were you started.. were you fed well...and what were your new living accommodations like?
Harry- you know people want to know- because once you are voted off ....
Ryan - You actually go to a place, there's beds and it's a cold shower, you get hot meals and stuff like that. I actually gained quiet a bit of the weight in a couple of days... once I come back..
Harry - Yeah..
Ryan - god I gained like 10 lbs just... I inhaled food like it was going out of style. (laughs)
Harry - Staci from Mass. - what's your question for Ryan .. Staci ?
Staci - Hey Ryan - good job playing the game buddy.
Ryan - Thank you
Staci - I really want to ask you umm... What was your reasoning behind voting for Christa, or were you under the impression that others would be voting along with you that way?
Ryan - No.. you know my whole thing with Christa that didn't get shown.. I think me and her kinda got into it a little bit, and umm... she had made comments toward me that I didn't like. and you know in the heat of the moment, I said and made a comment... and you know... oh well.. (laughs) .... you gotta live with it.
Harry - You paid your money you take some chances... (laughs)
Ryan - yeah.
Harry - Real quickly - Some people have said they didn't feel like having those outcasts come back was a fair turn in the game, what did you think?
Ryan - I didn't think.... the premise of Survivor is you go on the show you get voted off, hey that's it you're done.
Harry- right
Ryan.. but you know - The Outcast Tribe coming back - I was shocked.
Harry - yeah...
Ryan - But.. you know- Burnett always throws twists at you, that's why I signed up for the game. And, Jeff- you know - Me him - actually got into a heated battle... oh well. It happened. ( kinda laughs)
Harry - yeah... Ryan - Congratulations on having made it so far.
