Oh what a night !! Lillian and Burton are back in the game, the tribes merge and the 40 year old attorney Andrew Savage found there was nothing he could do to save himself from the twist and turns of Survivor Pearl Island. Andrew became the first causality of the new Balboa tribe. This morning he talked with Julie Chen on the CBS Early Show about the things "we didn't see." Julie- The shocking twists and turns just keep coming on Survivor Pearl Islands. Last night, the 2 tribes merged into one, creating a new tribe called Balboa. Unfortunately for Andrew Savage, a ghost from Tribal Council past returned to take revenge on the Morgan Leader.
< Shows a clip of Andrew talking about the Lillian's chances of coming back into the game - he says - We need to strategize.. I don't want anybody's misfits getting any control or authority in our tribe. Lil, god bless her and I love her, she's got no business competing in those challenges.>

Julie- Andrew Savage - Good Morning
Andrew - OUCH !!
Julie - I know.. we're were sitting here watching these clips
Andrew - Yes..
Julie - watching you call these people misfits and you are cringing. What did you do wrong in this game to be sitting here right now?
Andrew- Great question. -
Julie- Where do we begin - You're thinking?
Andrew - yeah - there are so many things.. Where did I go wrong ? I trusted Lil. There's so much you don't see. I was the only one in my tribe arguing to keep Lil in the first go- round - day 9 - I didn't want to vote her out. My tribe mates came to me and said she's got to go.. and I'm not stupid.. I sided with my tribe mates and voted her out.
Julie- Why did you want to keep her?
Andrew- Great work ethics, did a lot around the camp ummm.... She was inspirational. She was the oldest person out there and you know I had great respect for her.
Julie- Well. as we're watching at home, you definitely appear to be the leader of your tribe.
Andrew - Yes.
Julie- So it's kind of hard for us to believe that you couldn't swing the others to vote otherwise - or was there was just a numbers game? That you had to go with the majority? You didn't have a choice?
Andrew- That's exactly right. I was a leader but it was also clearly a democracy - critical decisions were always put up to a vote and I had one vote. I did my best to sway everyone to keep Lil and they said ..No.. we needed stronger people in the challenges. Clearly the most demanding physically Survivor to date. We thought well... maybe we should have stronger people in the challenges. Goodness knows what was coming up.
Julie- Was Lil the swing vote last night that did you in?
Andrew- Yeah .. (laughs) Lil was the swing vote, We had 5 Morgan's going after Little Jon .. and 5 Drakes coming after me. There's so much you didn't see....A couple of minutes before we get on the boat.. Lil jumps ship. What you didn't see is that myself and 2 Morgan's had an alliance with Rupert and 2 Drakes .. it seemed like a solid alliance and a couple of minutes before we get on the boat to got to Tribal Council.. it fell apart because Lil decided to jump ship and decided to go with the Drakes.
Julie - hmm..- Did the merge catch you off guard ??
Andrew - Totally !!
Julie- Did that contribute to your demise as well? Because.. I mean how well do you really know members of the Drake tribe to try and start you know swinging their votes and it's kind of like...
Andrew - Right....Definite disadvantage. I wish I would of had a couple of days with the Drakes to work some magic.. and try to get more alliances, relationships. You don't know the Drakes that well and haven't had a lot of contact with them. Ummm....One thing I wanted to clear up..that's been driving me nuts..
Julie- Yeah?
Andrew - before Tribal Council - Day 9 - I came up to Lil...gave her a hug - a big kiss on the cheek - I said Lil ...we love you. I'm so sorry about tonight It's not personal it's a strategy. She says Andrew it's ok..I understand. And, she's admitted this in her interviews..so she says that I didn't tell her that she was going.. that's not true... and... she actually set aside a bunch of firewood before she went to Tribal Council and pointed it out to me and said... "Andrew..I know I'm not coming back.. here's the firewood to start up the fire when you get back. I mean.. She was a nice lady. That was the kind of things she would do.....So she did know she was going.
Julie - hmmm ok... We have some callers on the line that want to ask you a few questions .. beginning with Mark from Massachusetts. Go ahead, Mark.
Mark- Rupert is clearly the leader of his tribe by supplying them with 10 -15 pounds of fish a day - helping his tribe win team immunity- being the strongest on his team.. and his tribe.. I was wondering you being portrayed as a leader of your tribe.. what have you done to help them?
Andrew- yeah.. another thing that you don't see is that everyday we are spending hours of gathering muscles... oysters --- there wasn't many fish in our lagoon.. Rupert was with us 2 days and he got 4 fish.. and two days on his island he's getting 30 fish. There is not a lot of fish in our lagoon. So...we scoured the coral heads and got all we oysters and muscles that we could get and we supplemented that with our rice so that is what we were doing.

Brandon - Hi Andrew- My question is.. which one of the outcast tribe members were you hoping to come back to join your tribe and why?
Andrew - ummm...At that point , I would have loved to have Burton. I really didn't think a merge was coming. Would love to have Burton for his strength and clearly he's a good strategist in the challenges, so I was hoping for anybody other than a Morgan..because, again .. I had cross-hairs on my forehead from day one being the perceived leader and it would be tough to get over the fact that they 3 Outcast from Morgan were really not happy with me thinking I masterminded them being voted off...
Julie Ok... we have - Kate.. quick question.. Kate we'll give you one more shot..

Andrew - Kate doesn't like me !!
(laughter)
Julie- Kate might be Lil playing a game with you right now...

Julie... Oh she is there... Hi Kate.... Hurry up Kate..

Andrew - Good - how are you ??
Kate- Andrew , this is your cousin Katie Lockwood.
Andrew - Hey Katie - how are you?
Katie- I'm wonderful... .I wanted to call and tell you how proud we are.. My mom and Dad have been watching you the whole time.. you did great and you are gorgeous.
Andrew - (whose voice goes very high pitched) says- that is sooooooo sweet - Thank you very much... .
Katie - I want to now who you are rooting for to win right now?
Andrew-Oh... I am rooting for.... ummmm......well I'm rooting for myself.. I'm waiting on the call to get back on the island !!
Julie - laughs and says.it was worth the wait... Katie and Thank you Andrew ( the shakes his hand)
Andrew - Thank you Julie so very much.
