Last nights episode of Survivor: All Stars left many of its viewers saying " that was a waste of my time." Sue's outrage of the incident that played out last week between herself and Richard during the Immunity Challenge was the focus of the show. For the second time this season, a Survivor contestant quit the game. Sue Hawk's emotions lead her to walk away last night. This morning on the CBS Early Show, Sue and Richard both talked with Harry Smith and shared their perspectives on how they both still see things very differently, but how they have come to terms with it. Harry Smith - For the second time this season there was no Tribal Council on Survivor: All Stars. The tough talking Sue Hawk, decided that she had had enough after a run in with Richard Hatch.
(Shows clip of Sue saying that everytime she woke up she could re-feel Richard naked.. kept flashing through her head.. and she started feeling really bad- clip also show of Rich, Sue and Kathy on the balance beam - Sue crying saying "why did he have to touch me, he didn't touch nobody else". -- clip of last night when Sue was shouting at Jeff that she was violated.. and of her leaving the island)
Harry- Sue Hawk and Richard Hatch are here. Thank you both for being here. ( they nod) Sue, I watched the show 2 weeks ago and it seemed like a momentary confrontation, and Jeff said Hey there's no place for that or whatever .. it happened in 2 seconds...you got back to the camp - and what started going through your mind?
Sue- umm .. that evening when I had a time to be by myself, I just kept reliving the incident.. it just kept eatin' into me more and more like a cancer... so.....
Harry - do you still feel that way now?
Sue - it's been ... time has... it's been a long time since that .. and ummm me and Richard have had a chance to sit down and hash it out and talk about the incident and we both have different perspectives on it...
Harry- uh huh...
Sue- but we've come to terms with it and we're ready to move forward and to pass it - of course - the viewing audience won't because it was just like last night...
Harry - this is the first time that - we just saw this last night..
Sue- yeah..
Harry -what do you want to say to him?
Sue- to say to Richard?
Harry - uh huh...
Sue - ummmm.... just....you know... I ... I..... I can understand your feelings that you like to be naked, that you're not uncomfortable with it...
( Richard nods his head) ** Sue has not looked at Richard as of yet
Sue- just you... sometimes you ...need to ( she looks directly at him) take in other people's perspectives on what's going around with you to them...so... (she shrugs her shoulders) and says ... you know .( looks at Harry) .. be a little...ummmm.....
Harry - well you are down playing it now .. but last night this is on the edge of...
Sue - yeah that was at the moment though.. that was fresh off the plate... that's when it was still hot.
Harry - right
Sue- so .. I've ... you know.. I'm an adult, I have to ...you have to work through things like that in life.. I mean you can't shut them out at the moment, but you grow from them, you learn from them.
Harry -alright.. do you think that because you were out there.. you were tired ...you were... hungry ..do you think all of those things.. maybe the ... the physical deprivation played into your emotional response?
Sue- ummm... chances are probably.... not.. even if it had been day 2 or 3 - I wasn't thirsty or hungry - we had a lot of food there
Harry -yeah
Sue- we really..I... we had so much shellfish .. that you could
Harry - ok.. so that had nothing to do with it?
Sue- no, I was in really good shape physically and..
Harry - and mentally?
Sue - yeah and mentally.. I wasn't thinking about home .. and I wasn't thinking about food and it was actually easier this time around.
Harry - to clear the air..
Sue - yeah
Harry - you need to tell him ( points to Richard) for the record - for the audience- what you felt when whatever happened - happened.
Sue- feeling Richard naked next to you is not a good feeling ( she looks at Richard) that's all... ( she smiles) - ( Richard nods his head in a "yes" motion)
Harry - it looked like it had a devastating affect ...
Sue - well yeah.. any sensible.. I mean ( she looks at Richard) ( he is still nodding) she continues to say - you know.. I just .. I don't..wanna brush up against ... .. naked people ( looks at Richard again) .. says .... I mean...
Richard - we have a perspective of Sue Hawk as you know super tough .. this is it. And, I learned something... you know she is a sensitive person. And.. afterwards it really really got to her.. it started to really really get to her. It was emotional.
Harry - as we asked you about this last week...
Richard - yeah
Harry - and from your perspective - it was no big deal. And.. you know what let's look at the tape. Let's look at how it played out 2 weeks ago on television. Let's look at this.
( shows clip of the "incident' )
Harry doing a Voice Over of the clip says -so there you are... you make a decision not to go this way - you turn around and - you wanted the shortest route?
Sue- yeah.. I don't balance well..
Harry - alright - ok - so you know you are coming so to speak face to face ... ( clips showing Richard and Sue's encounter) Harry counts - 1,2,3 ...
Sue- the 3 of us.
Harry -well there is about a 3 second...
Sue -yeah
Harry - did Richard literally come closer to you than you felt necessary?
Sue- yeah at the time - correct,
Harry -right
Sue -yeah
Harry - and ( looks to Richard) when you were doing it what were you thinking?
Richard - Clueless. I'm thinking See.. those two beams are equal - equally distant.
Harry - right
Richard- from her perspective she wanted the shortest route - she thought it was shorter going that way. I'm thinking what the hell are you thinking turning around?
Harry - but..?
Sue- we did have direction in that - Jeff told - I don't know what he told your team.. but he told our team that we must leave out on this board and we must enter back on that board.
Harry -uh huh
Sue - you can see throughout the challenge- people always going back on that one board.
Richard- but we didn't....
Sue -that's the rules - you know god forsake the rules.
Richard- and we didn't have that rule.. on our side we went back and forth on both of them..so...
Sue to Richard- they didn't tell you that.. oh yeah...(nods her head)
Richard - so from my perspective again.. I'm thinking what is she doing turning around and I just went by.
Harry - you guys know each other... you have played this game together before
Rich and Sue -yeah
Harry to Richard - did you.. you didn't know that she would respond the way she responded?
Richard -oh my gosh no...
Harry - this was.. lord knows you said you were naked all through the first show and all through this one.
Richard - nods his head says yeah...
Sue -but he kept a distance always...
( brief silence)
Sue- so it's like .. even... I was.. even offend... you know you don't plan on.. I mean .. I've been stable and married with the same person for 18 years ... you just.... yeah... it ...yeah... it offended me. So.....
Harry -alright still a lot more to talk about - we will ...alright so things have calmed down some.. but we have plenty of issues to cover yet and we'll do that in the next half hour. Ok?
Sue - ok
Harry - stay right there.
Back.. with Harry saying - before they were All- Stars Richard Hatch and Sue Hawk were members of Survivor's original alliance .. and if it hadn't of been for a memorable plea from Sue, Richard may have never won.

Harry -boy that feels like yesterday huh?
Sue- yeah
Richard- to who?
Sue- yeah it does
Harry laughing - let's . I just want to clear the air - on a couple of things I misunderstood. So.. after this happened on the island, you two talked...
Sue- yeah, we talked about the incident
Harry- and what did you.. what can you express to Richard - that you needed to say to him to clear the air?
Sue- that I did not appreciate what I felt was an intentional .... ( pauses as if she is looking for the correct words to say) and intentional move against me.. ummm...with his you know.. private area - that upset me so much -
Harry - right
Sue - umm that you know - it was uncalled for and .. and... it bothered me.
Harry -right
Richard- Harry ... and .. I got to say to her - that I didn't appreciate what from my perspective was her kind of taunting me.
Sue- yeah
Richard- so...so.. we both got to say to each other.
Harry - so you felt that she came around to your direction - you felt a taunt from Sue?
Richard - oh yea - from my perspective - I realize that she doesn't - you know see it that way
Harry- right ..ok... so it takes two to tango in this... yeah ok... you still.. ( looks at Richard) do you want to apologize?
Richard- Sue and I have worked it out. We see it from two different perspectives, it's not about her apologizing to me or my perspective about apologizing to her.. I'll tell you why I'm sorry .. I'm so sorry that she feels this way. I'm so sorry that it's been so emotional for her.
Harry -right
Richard- you know.. I do feel for her very very much.
Harry - alright. You know because it's clear to me..I'm just looking at your body language - you ..if you had your druthers ..you would not be sitting within six inches of this guy?
Sue- yeah well you know..lessons learned.. you just.. now I'm like I'll just have to keep my distance from Rich.. you know.. I guess.. it's a human nature.
Harry - I'm watching last night and I'm thinking - she's going to sue - You (points to Rich) - then looks back at Sue and says - you are going to sue the show- you going to sue CBS .. I mean...
Sue- I did consider like a law suit when it first occurred...
Harry - right
Sue - and I decided that I needed not to do something on that move - because that's ..that's emotionally draining also... and decided to move forward - CBS and Mark Burnett have been real nice about helping to deal with the situation. So..
Harry- alright so...
Sue- yeah .. yeah
Harry - so the waters aren't exactly tranquil but there is some peace?
Sue- yeah... they're ride -able.. you can drive a boat on it.
(laughter)
Harry- coming from Wisconsin - we can understand what you are saying.
(everyone smiling)
Harry- alright .. what was also interesting last night was the response of your tribe mates. You got alot of empathy from the women it seemed like - at least initially.
Sue - ummm I wouldn't know... I didn't watch the show.
Harry - ok
Sue - I couldn't bring myself to go watch that again.. I don't want to go back there.
Harry - So you didn't see Big Tom's dance?
( shows a clip of Big Tom's dance)
Sue - Well I can see that coming from Big Tom in anything...
Harry - This is his reaction to you from being - from you leaving the show.
Harry - look at this
( clip still playing)
Sue - cool
Harry - They're singing the witch is dead.
Sue - yeah ... Tom did that dance all the time for TV. I'm glad to see that he finally got it on. And.. ummm.. It probably was good for him because it probably gave him a chance to go finish that bottle of whiskey that he'd been getting the shakes over every time he seen it.
Harry - well that's what you - you called him on it a couple of weeks ago on the show..
Sue- yeah .. Oh yeah.. well he definitely - he loves that stuff. That's probably... yeah that's up on his priority list
Harry - yeah.. (sighs) then says - Do you feel like you got enough support from your tribe when you were going through your turmoil?
Sue- umm you know in a situation like that - Those people, you don't expect support fromthem... You really don't ask for it. Because the game.
Richard - it's Survivor
Sue- it's not a real situation - you know ..you are on your own.
Harry- yeah.. well the second you were gone, it was already ( snaps his fingers) how do we move on".
Sue - yea and that is understandable because that is part of the game
Richard- There's alot at stake in Survivor. While you're playing the game, you are playing a "game" and sometimes you know you forget, there are people involved.
Harry - yeah that sure came into play last night. You guys are good, thanks for being with us.
